Every question
answered honestly

We know choosing care for someone you love brings up many questions. We've answered the most common ones below — and we're always available to talk through anything else.

About Our Services

We provide non-medical, companionship-centred home care. This includes companionship and conversation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation and errands, personalized care planning, and respite care for family caregivers. We do not provide medical or nursing services.
No. Livingwaters focuses exclusively on non-medical support. Our caregivers are not nurses or personal support workers in the clinical sense — they are compassionate companions and home helpers. If medical care is also needed, we can help you understand how our services complement those from licensed healthcare providers.
We currently serve families across Winnipeg and the surrounding Manitoba region. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, please reach out — we're always looking to extend our reach to families who need us.
Yes. While we are not a specialized memory-care provider, many of our caregivers have experience supporting individuals with early to moderate dementia. We focus on maintaining routine, reducing confusion, providing calm companionship, and keeping families informed. We will always be honest about what is within our scope.

Caregivers & Matching

Every caregiver on our team passes a criminal record check, reference verification with past employers or clients, and an in-person interview with our care team. We look for people who demonstrate genuine warmth, reliability, and respect — not just technical competence.
After your home assessment, our care coordinator reviews your loved one's personality, interests, daily routines, and specific needs. We then select a caregiver whose character, skills, and schedule align well. We don't just fill a slot — we look for genuine compatibility. If the first match isn't right, we'll adjust at no extra cost.
We prioritize consistency above almost everything else. Your loved one will have a primary caregiver who builds a real, ongoing relationship with them. In the rare case of illness or unavailability, we will notify you in advance and arrange a familiar backup caregiver wherever possible.
Just let us know. We take all feedback seriously and will arrange a replacement promptly — no awkward conversations with the caregiver required. Our priority is that your loved one feels comfortable, safe, and well cared-for.

Scheduling & Flexibility

We offer care across a wide range of hours — daytime, evenings, and overnight. For regular ongoing care, we work with you to build a schedule that fits your loved one's routine. We also accommodate last-minute requests and emergency respite as availability allows.
We typically work with a minimum visit length of two to three hours, which gives enough time for meaningful engagement rather than a rushed check-in. We'll discuss what makes sense for your specific situation during the free consultation.
Absolutely. Care needs change, and our plans are designed to flex with them. You can increase, decrease, or pause hours with reasonable notice. There are no penalties for adjusting your schedule.
Yes. Overnight care is available for clients who need a reassuring presence through the night or who have early-morning routines that require support. For continuous 24-hour care needs, we'll discuss a rotation model that ensures your loved one always has a rested, attentive caregiver.

Cost & Payment

We use transparent, flat-rate pricing that we discuss openly during your free consultation — no hidden fees, no surprise invoices. Rates vary depending on the type and frequency of care. We'll give you a clear written quote before anything begins.
No. We don't believe in locking families into long-term commitments. Our care agreements are flexible and can be adjusted or ended with reasonable notice. We earn your continued trust through the quality of care we provide, not through contracts.
Publicly funded home care through Manitoba Health covers medical and personal support services assessed through the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Our non-medical companion care services are privately funded. Some extended health benefits or long-term care insurance policies may include companion care — we recommend checking your policy. We're happy to provide documentation to support any claims.
We accept e-transfer, cheque, and direct bank payment. Invoices are provided regularly so you always have a clear record. We're happy to discuss billing cycles that work best for your family.

Getting Started

In many cases, we can have a caregiver in place within a few days of your initial consultation and home assessment. For urgent situations — such as a hospital discharge or sudden change in a family caregiver's availability — please let us know and we will do our best to fast-track the process.
It's a warm, no-pressure conversation — by phone or in person — where we listen to your situation, answer your questions, and get a sense of what your loved one needs. There's no commitment required. Many families find it reassuring just to talk to someone who understands what they're going through.
No referral is needed. You can contact us directly and we'll guide you through everything from there. If you're transitioning from hospital care, we can also coordinate with discharge planners to make the process as smooth as possible.
